“Someone is sitting in the shade today, because someone planted a tree a long time ago”
Carlie Monnier was one of the Foundations founders back in 2018. Carlie has given the Foundation so much of her time, blood (samples!) sweat and tears over the past 8 years.
Carlie was President until April 2024, then stepped back to Vice President and since then has been working on a succession plan to free herself up more. The time has finally come for Carlie to pass her role of Vice President on, and we are delighted to announce that Ashlee Manjon-Stierstorfer will assume the role of VP effective October 1.
Ashlee has served as Communications Chair for the past 3 years and we are thrilled she is stepping up into this role.
Please join us in thanking Carlie for her incredible leadership and conviction for all our BBSOAStrong, and welcoming Ashlee into her new role.
Read Carlie's update below:

In 2024, I stepped down to VP and the amazing Jen Coughlin stepped up to President. It was then the plan for me to slowly find a successor for the role of VP. I am pleased to share that I have now officially passed the VP baton to the wonderfully talented Ashlee Manjon, fellow BBSOAS mom and NR2F1 Social Media Chair.
Under a steep learning curve and with the dedication of fellow board directors, I've developed a myriad of skills made bold decisions and forged partnerships. I could not have imagined how far this foundation would go from our humble beginning in 2018, but I am not surprised; rare disease parents do not mess around. I am tremendously proud to have co-initiated and built something from nothing.
I will continue to serve the NR2F1 community as a board director until next year and help with the planning of the April 2026 NR2F1 Conference.
Read Ashlee's introduction:

Thank you to the NR2F1 Foundation Board of Directors for entrusting me with this position. I am excited to continue growing within the board and to support our incredible #BBSOAStrong community.
I have served on the Board of Directors since 2022 and have been running our social media platforms. Through this role, I've built close working relationships with our President, Jen Coughlin, and I know that our shared dedication to the community will help our foundation continue to grow.
Being a BBSOAS mom to Emma is my why. With that comes the entire #BBSOAStrong community, and I am committed to helping ensure our future is bright!
